Women’s access to justice and land and property rights in Cambodia
Land disputes in Cambodia are ongoing due to lack of tenure security, forced evictions, and unplanned resettlement resulting from land concessions for development projects. Indigenous communities and women in particular face loss of livelihoods, food insecurity, and threats of violence when relocated. Forced evictions disproportionately impact women by increasing risks of poverty, poor health, and physical insecurity when resettlement sites lack basic services and infrastructure. Housing discrimination in the US violates Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which guarantees adequate housing for all. Discrimination most often occurs based on race, religion, disability, family status or nationality. From 2002 data, over 25,000 complaints were filed with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which estimates actual cases of discrimination are twice as high. HUD is responsible for enforcing fair housing laws and individuals can file complaints with HUD if they believe they have experienced discrimination. Key Supreme Court cases and laws like the Fair Housing Act and Age Discrimination Act have helped define and prohibit housing discrimination.

Not only are these prejudices exemplified in interpersonal interactions through slurs and violent acts but also in the policies maintained in social work agencies and institutions. On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court extended marriage rights to same-sex partners. Since this ruling, the federal government has extended all federal and military/veteran benefits to married same-sex couples. Despite this progress, states continue to debate laws and policies that would legalize forms of discrimination toward LGBTQ individuals. Advocacy organizations, such as the Human Rights Campaign, provide policy maps showing the different rights provided in different states (see http://www.hrc.org/state_maps). Social workers are expected to fight to eliminate these inequalities throughout communities, programs, and institutions.

Autonomous Vehicles
An MIT spinoff called Optimus Ride is developing self-driving vehicle technology. The company was founded by Ryan Chin, a PhD from MIT who worked on several autonomous vehicle projects there. EV Ride and Drive Event
